MAXIM LEGAL PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy is important to Maxim Legal. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, hold, use and disclose information about you.  By agreeing to accept services from us you consent to our use of your personal information. This Privacy Policy (as amended from time to time) applies to all your interactions with us.

This Privacy Policy is governed by New Zealand law.  We may, from time to time, collect information about identifiable individuals.  All personal information that you supply to us through this website will be handled and stored according to the provisions of the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).

We acknowledge our obligation in relation to the handling, use, disclosure and processing of your personal information pursuant to the Privacy Act 2020 including Part ll of the OECD Guidelines and as set out in Schedule 8 of the Privacy Act 2020 and any statutory requirements where relevant in the European Economic Area “EEA” under the EU Data Privacy Laws (including the General Data Protection Regulation “GDPR”).  We acknowledge that in the event we become aware of any data breaches and/or disclosure of your personal information by us that may result in serious harm to you, we will notify you in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and or GDPR.  Any release of such personal information must be in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the GDPR (where relevant) and must be approved by us by written consent, unless subject to the operation of law.

You authorise us to collect, retain and use your personal information for credit, administration, service and marketing purposes.

Once we have received your personal information, we will use reasonable efforts to protect that information against loss or misuse and against unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure.

Where we hold your personal information in such a way that it can readily be retrieved, you are entitled to request access to that information or to obtain our confirmation of whether we hold that information. If we are unable to meet your request for access, we will let you know why.

HOW CAN YOU ACCESS & CHANGE YOUR INFORMATION?


We will disclose personal information about you (including your identity) to a third party if we have your permission, are required to do so in the course of legal proceedings or other investigations, or if we determine that the disclosure is necessary in connection with a complaint regarding your use of any Maxim Legal website.

WHAT IS AUTOMATED COLLECTION?


You have the right of access to your personal information, and you have the right to ask for correction of your personal information held by us. 

You are able to make a privacy complaint by contacting us via email (thefirm@maximlegal.co.nz) and we will respond to your complaint within seven days of receipt.  We will take all reasonable steps to make a decision as to the complaint within twenty (20) days of receipt of the complaint.  In the event that you are not satisfied with the resolution provided by us you can make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner at http://www.privacy.org.nz .

RIGHT OF ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION


We reserve the right to modify or amend this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason.  Any changes we make to the Privacy Policy will be posted on this page and, if we consider it appropriate, notified to you by e-mail. For this reason, we encourage you to visit this page regularly to check the current version of the Privacy Policy.
